Our Founders

Founder: Benedicta Forson (Kuukua)

Kuukua has been a kitchen beautician long before it was cool, mixing up DIY hair masks with eggs, fenugreek, and whatever natural magic she could find. For the first six years of her natural hair journey, her pantry was her conditioner aisle!

In 2018, after battling harsh winter dryness, a friend’s advice; “make your own butters”, changed everything. Inspired, she created her first batch of Dukuba body butter using the natural ingredients she grew up with in Ghana. After sharing samples with friends and hearing their glowing reviews, the seed for Dukuba was planted.

With a background in Biochemistry and Public Health, Kuukua approaches product creation with a scientific and research-driven mindset. Her main goal is to rigorously investigate ingredients, analyze their benefits, and ensure that every formulation aligns with evidence-based practices for skin and hair health. While Dukuba currently operates as a small, home-based business without an in-house lab, her expertise allows for methodical research into ingredient sourcing, formulation safety, and efficacy. In the future, she hopes to expand Dukuba’s capabilities to include laboratory testing, strengthening the scientific foundation behind every product.

When she’s not working in healthcare or building Dukuba, you’ll find her running (3x marathoner!), singing, playing piano, or experimenting in the kitchen and spending time with family. She and her sister pour love into every product and can’t wait for Dukuba to become your go-to brand for skin and hair care.

Stay connected, share your testimonials, and keep an eye out because there’s always something new cooking in the Dukuba world!

Co-founder: Priscilla Ama Forson

Ama developed a passion for skincare during the COVID-19 pandemic. After battling acne for years and experiencing harsh reactions from chemical-based products, she used the quiet of quarantine to explore natural remedies and homemade formulations. The transformative benefits of shea butter quickly revealed themselves, restoring her skin to a radiant, smooth glow. That journey sparked the brilliant idea to partner with her sister, Kuukua, and establish the Ghana branch of Dukuba.

With an academic background that includes an MSc in Sustainable Development, Ama brings much more to Dukuba than creativity and visual direction. Her training allows her to thoughtfully evaluate the environmental and social impact of every choice—from ingredient sourcing to production methods and packaging. She ensures that all Dukuba products are aligned with sustainable best practices and that nothing in our process harms the planet or the communities we work with.

As a firm believer in ethically sourced ingredients, Ama champions our commitment to natural, conscious beauty. Her dedication ensures that every Dukuba product not only delivers excellent results but also reflects our values of sustainability, transparency, and responsibility.

With a creative spirit, a love for storytelling, and a passion for mindful living, Ama helps shape Dukuba into more than a skincare brand—it’s a movement toward intentional, eco-conscious beauty.

Our Story

We started as two sisters growing up in Ghana, surrounded by family, tradition, nature, and a culture that taught us to create with what we had. Some of our earliest memories are of mixing simple ingredients for our hair and skin, guided by curiosity and the wisdom around us.

Life eventually carried us to the U.S. and the U.K., but our roots traveled with us.

Dukuba was born from that journey - a love for culture, a passion for creating, and a desire to blend tradition with modern care.

We are proof that where you begin does not limit where you can go. Our hope is that when you use Dukuba, you feel connected; to yourself, to nature, and to the belief that big dreams can grow from small beginnings.
